Twitter’s Tyrannical Trust & Safety Council: The Twitter Version of ‘The Ministry of Truth’ in Orwell’s 1984

Twitter, the social media site that was launched in 2006 by Evan Williams, CEO Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, and Biz Stone, has launched an Orwellian ruckus in which, according to its blog dated February 9, it has organized a “Trust & Safety Council” that mirrors “The Ministry of Truth” group in George Orwell‘s 1984.* (Considering my blog posts on Twitter as well as Facebook, I mention this latest action from Twitter, because what the private company is doing and employing threatens the First Amendemt-protected rights of its users.)

This is what the company says on its blog:

As Daniel Payne wrote about this council on his blog piece entitled “Say Hello to Twitter’s Tweet Police” via the Federalist website:

Obviously, this is on the heels of Girls‘ co-creator and actress and author Lena Dunham who recently “quit” the site (more times than she’s changed her bra and underwear) because she felt that the site was no longer a “safe space” for her and demanded a code of conduct protecting women from “hateful and violent statements.” Translation: we need an amendment to the Constitution to protect Lena’s deeply hurt sentiments.

The Hollywood Reporter reports Lena telling Re/code Decode podcast host Kara Swisher:Lena Dunham Quits Twitter for the Umpteenth Time Quote - 02-11-2016Obviously, she’s using the “safe space” rebuke to her critics who have publicly attacked her for various reasons of which we all are aware, including her admission that she molested her younger sister Grace, accused a conservative Republican male college student of allegedly “raping” her while she was attending Oberth College, her anti-male and feminist politics including her sappy love for all things Hillary, her pathetic newsletter Lenny, her lie of her “autobiography” (given it’s been debunked and deemed questionable), and so on.

So that’s how this authoritarian model came into being for Twitter, thanks in part to an anti-male, limousine liberal bitch who despises men, who might as well be a lesbian (not that I care either way!), and who’s lied her way via her shitty-ass book, whose TV show is nothing short of mediocrity, and whose politics is as polarizing as a polar bear.

This is after Twitter’s stock price diving from $69 a share to approximately $15 a share, according to USA Today in its piece entitled “Twitter faces critical moments with Q4 results“:

If Twitter knows what’s good for them, the company would not piss off its user base, who can drop the site in a second.

As a private company, Twitter can do whatever it wants. If its want to be tyrannical to its users, it can do that. However, Twitter depends on its users for viability. Without it as well as the users sharing content that they see on the site, the enterprise is a dead husk. Memo to Twitter: don’t piss the fuck off your users, or they will delete their accounts and go elsewhere. Do you want to continue to be relevant? Then jettison the Trust & Safety Council. If you don’t, you will lose your Tweeters, and that’s a huge guarantee right there.

I’m considering the possibility of dropping Twitter and go to an alternative site like Quitter.

A Happy New Year to My Readers and the World At-Large

It is incumbent upon me to wish a Happy New Year to my readers, my sworn enemies, my close friends, my associates, everyone whom I know, and the world at-large.

I’m entering the year 2016 with an enormous batch of mixed sentiments and emotions – the kinds that I never knew would dominate me, motivate me, and hit me very hard on a colossal scale. Some of the sentiments and emotions are good, while others are bad. I know that I have many other adventures to await and to which I look forward, but some of them can possibly and may be overwhelming in the months to come. Perhaps they may be underwhelming. Either way, the upcoming months are coming, so I will concentrate on that and many more opportunities to come my way.

The first half of my life has ended, and now I’m preparing to enter the second half of it. Phase One is over for me, but Phase Two is on the horizon. I cherish every second of my life, and I greet the new life that will come to embrace and enthrall me enthusiastically and amazingly. Of that I am most certain.

As the holidays wind down on the closure of 2015, 2016 has finally arrived. 2015 remains a distant memory hole for most people now, considering it’s been a rotten, awful year for everyone (well, mostly everyone that is), but 2016, I predict, will be a far better one. While liberty has been under assault in 2016, at least some successes have been met. The Supreme Court has all-in-all legalized gay marriage in its ruling, despite the animus coming from the conservatives. Marijuana has been legalized in a handful of states. Just today, the State of Texas has its new open-carry law in effect, becoming the 45th state to allow gun owners and many citizens to carry firearms openly in a legal fashion. This is great news for liberty at-large, and we must acknowledge, accept, and embrace that paramount step in the advancement of human freedom for all Americans. This is fantastic, and we must celebrate in every immeasurable way. Complacency and apathy have no legitimate room in our society anymore, and it’s high time that all Americans, including Yours Truly, accept that. We must eschew those sentiments as much and often as possible, for they are they cancers that destroy liberty, not the saviors of it.

My good Wendy McElroy, who has wished everyone a Happy New Year on her blog, has announced that she will no longer carry a news feed on her blog because her decision is to write more this year than she has in the past several years. She’s also announced to pull the plug on In the midst of her apology to that site’s fans and friends, she explains:

Its demise comes from nothing more than that there is only one of me.

Here’s Wendy’s blog post as the following:

Liberty Cap Talk Live, my talk radio show, which began on BlogTalkRadio on December 26, 2006 as an interview show (although it has evolved in the current format of the three co-hosts and guest panelists format due to Real Time with Bill Maher‘s influence on me), will be winding down at the end of this season. It will continue for one more season with a strong possibility that it will be its last, unless Jim Landrith (my top co-host) and Will Coley of Muslims for Liberty (my second co-host/permanent panelist) want to continue it. The reason is that I am going to end my talk radio forays, and Jim and Will can continue the show without me on a permanent basis, although I might be inclined to be a guest panelist at some point later, but that’s gonna be shelved for now.

The website has been updated with a new look (i.e. “a new template”) and a new header to make it more marketable. Hopefully I will be able to bring guest bloggers and writers onto this site as well as official regulars on here as well. Time will tell, so we will see.

Stay happy, be fruitful, and fight for liberty at every corner.
